Sister's Keepers is...
How We Got Started...
We Believe...

A fellowship of Christian women who are committed to Jesus Christ
as Savior and LORD.

Where women from all backgrounds come together to encourage one another through worship, praise and sharing our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.

We would like for women to know and experience the fellowship of sisterhood and be blessed as God encourages us through each other.

We are learning to become more aware and sensitive to the "cry " of our sisters, realizing that her "cry" may manifest itself in various ways.

As God asked Cain, "where is thy brother", we also hear...where is your sister? Is she in trouble? Is she in rejection? Is she in doubt? Is she excited about a special blessing? We want to be able to recognize where she is and be willing to allow God to use us to "loose her" or share in her joy.

After realizing how special God made us to each other, and sensing a great need for women to be encouraged through the victories
and challenges of other women, seven women assembled together on
Thursday, February 20, 1997
to plan our first
"Sister's Keepers" fellowship.

Our first fellowship meeting was Friday, March 21, 1997 at

Potomac Landing Elementary School,
Multipurpose Room,
12500 Ft. Washington Rd., Fort Washington, MD.

We meet monthly, every third Friday, at 7:30 p.m. at the same location.

Women need to come together in the Name of Jesus and
identify our position as sisters in Christ; and
"Yes, we are our Sister's Keeper".

As sisters, we are happy for each other and not envious.

We encourage each other,
not criticize each other.

We help each other,
not knock each other down.

We are truthful to each other,
not liars or murmurers.

We don't want our sister's husband nor her boyfriend.

If he approaches us, we get him straight,
and if we have to, we will tell her.

We do not get a thrill out of our sister's misfortune.

When we see our sister down,
we help her up.

When we see her confused, and we've got the answer,
we tell her the truth.

When she looks good, since we are not jealous,
we tell her.

We realize that the same Jesus
who got her together can fix us too!

We realize that the things that are easily taken away from us
probably were not ours in the first place.

One sister's testimony is another sister's hope.
